Hi! I’m Elaine Johnston, a 3x Business Owner, Podcast Host, and Style Coach from central Arkansas. While fashion is my first love, it’s not my only passion!
I believe life is a grand adventure, and home is wherever the heart—and good coffee—is. Outside of my love for all things style, my husband, Cody, and I also co-own several businesses, like Reckless Media, a digital marketing and media company designed to meet all your online needs. From social media, podcast production, video creation, and more – if it lives online, we’ve got you covered!
Outside of business, we also host multiple podcasts.
Most notably, our show, Cryptids Across the Atlas, highlights obscure Cryptids – both the legends and facts, presented as a narrative story – to uncover the “truth” behind mysterious creatures and share how the believe in the “unknown” often shapes our history and culture (think Bigfoot, Nessie, Mothman).
And, if you didn’t know, my favorite holiday is Halloween so all this spooky, strange, and weird stuff is right up my alley. (Hey, dressing up in your favorite outfits can have many connotations!)
With this, we’re also heavily involved in the ever-evolving podcasting scene in Arkansas, where we, alongside Arkansas Podcast Collaborative, help educate the growing community about the power of podcasting and why storytelling matters – From hosting Podcasting Workshops to on-stage speaking!
My downtime? I’m all about indulging in the latest mystery novels, reimagining spaces with a bit of decor magic, and, of course, scouting out all the local coffee and donut shops around.
When I’m not immersed in work, you can find me hiking trails with my husband Cody and spunky Siberian Husky, Doppler Radar, hopping in the car for road trips, or hunting for unique finds at local thrift stores (vintage 70’s jumpsuits and retro halloween decor? Count me in!)
I love sharing my hobbies, interests, and passions online. This is only a glimpse of what I’m into. To learn more about all things fashion history, style psychology, and wardrobe advice, as well as more behind-the-scenes and highlights, follow along on social.
I’ve had an interest in style for as long as I can remember – from dressing in my mom’s clothes as an infant to *stealing* her clothes when I had got bored with my own wardrobe to documenting my outfits so I never wore the same thing twice – and don’t even get me started on staying up late, watching the Style network on TV! However, fashion isn’t my only passion, I also really enjoy writing.
When I received my first journal for my 8th birthday, I started journaling everything (still do!) and have kept every journal since. As a Freshman in High School, I wanted to take my writing journey to the next level. That’s when I learned about blogging. I was enthralled reading my former youth pastor’s blog and immediately knew that’s something I wanted to do. So, after asking him how to start my own, he told me to create a WordPress account and I got to writing. Of course, I had no idea what I was doing at the time. I had no niche. There were thousands of run-on sentences. And I had no idea to get my blog in front of more readers (SEO, who?). But, as time went on, my writing evolved and I began writing a couple thought pieces for The Odyssey during my first year of college.
By 2020, I extended my writing services to diverse clients, including recovery centers, financial advisors, talent acquisition & HR professionals, caregivers, non-profits, and entrepreneurs across the U.S. Through the art of storytelling and effective communication, I have also developed a strong skill set in narrative writing for entertainment podcasts.. Alongside my degree in Psychology and Entrepreneurship, professional background in small business, and my lifelong interest in creative writing, I’ve recently returned to my love for fashion and all things style.
Love discussing all things fashion and style? Me too! Have a style question you’d like some insight on? Here, you can stay up to date on all the latest trends, find links to your favorite pieces, and discover best tips + practices to develop your own personal style!
